Orjan Nilsen

Orjan Nilsen, born the 14th of June 1982 in a place called Kirkenes in Norway, started his interest in music at a VERY early age. He started banging on drum sets at the age of 1 and was thoroughly instructed by his father and brother for the first 9 years of his life.

At the age of 7, Orjan got his first keyboard, and started to practice on it every single day for the next couple of years, but started to think this little keyboard lacked what he was looking for… And then it began…

Melodies and rhythm were increasengly becoming a more important part of Orjan’s life as he was reaching for the teen years. And one style in particular caught his attention more then anything else… TRANCE After listening to various Trance compilations from Holland, he now started to be more and more mesmerized by this unique sound wich merged beautiful melodies and rhythmic patterns so beautifully. Orjan wanted to make this as well, but with the lack of funds and the knowledge how to, stopped him from it for a couple of years.

At the age of 16, Orjan got his first very own synthesizer, with onboard sequencer and drum machine, and from now on, things were evolving quite rapidly.

He learned how to set up drums, basslines, melodies, strings and chords on his synth and then also how making music really worked.

After a year, he learned how making music on a pc worked, and what magic that was contained in a small grey box…

Evolving in his productions year after year, Orjan now decided to take things a step further and bought more equipment to make his tunes reach another level

At the end of 2004, Orjan had made several unofficial remixes and a couple of own productions, that got the attention of trance minded people in the trance.nu community. His tunes were now played in radio stations and clubs all over the world, but nothing was, as of yet, signed by any label. It was in the summer of 2005 things started to take a new turn, when his remix of ‘Virunga – Simbabwe (Dj Governor’s Progmix)’ was played on Playground by Danjo & Styles and then a bit later Yanave on his show
‘Retinal Insight’! People now started to show more and more interest in the works of Orjan, wondering on ‘who is this guy?’
This gave Orjan more and more confidence, and gave him inspiration to keep working on his own tunes! Then, in September 2005, Orjan made ‘Red Woods’, which blew away the minds of his friends and fellow producers, and now, finally, it seemed like Orjans breakthrough, and indeed it was…

Since then Orjan has released a big amount of dancefloor smartbombs like f.ex Arctic Globe which went straight into the number one spot at the Dutch Dance Charts. His tunes are played all over the world both live and broadcasted by the worlds biggest DJs such as Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten
and so on and so on.

Orjan is currently taking gigs all over the world and his music career is developing rapidly, all though the DJ Governor moniker is at rest.

So keep an eye out, cause wherever you are in the world, the sounds of this young Norwegian DJ and producer will not escape you, and quite frankly,
would you want it to..?

Nic Chagall, Rank 1 & Wippenberg have pooled all their production-power to fashion a track worthy of commemorating the hundredth release on the broad-vision label. It’s the first time these three heavyweights have teamed up and therefore nothing but a unique collaboration. Rank 1’s big room signature, Nic Chagall progressive trance trademark and Wippenberg’s progressive beats combined in one track worthy to represent this landmark.

Artento Divini

A well known artist once said: “Making and playing music is like a reflex,I just can’t control it”.
And a reflex it is for one of Holland’s former talents who is taking the world of dancemusic by storm. Many DJs have made it to the top and so did numerous producers. But there are only so many people who are skilled enough to let both DJ-ing and producing go hand in hand to create a perfect synergy. One of those artists who posesses everything a DJ/ producer needs, is Artento Divini.

At the age of 19 the young and enthousiastic Ard Schilderink discovers the world of house music after being a successful cyclist and seeing many parts of Europe. His love for four measured beats starts to grow on him and resulted in buying his very own pair of turntables. Just like every DJ he started practicing the art of mixing, which lead to competing in several mixingcontests and, even more important, conquering these gauntlets. In 2002 Artento headlined the Brazilian festival Eco System and ended up touring this country for over three months and playing small hotspots in a.o. Manaus and other cities bordering the Amazone river.

Trying out different styles of music, slowly his sound developped into the style Divini plays nowadays. In 2006 Artento and his former partner in crime Melvin Warning added a new chapter to his starshooting career by producing the massive clubhit ‘Divini & Warning – 4LB’. Tiësto played it at Sensation White during his 30 minutes surprise-guest-performance, Armin van Buuren started off his set at Dance Valley 2006 playing ‘4LB’ and Sander van Doorn even used this ‘Radio 538 Dance Smash Hit’ on his Dance Valley mix compilation, so the impact of this first release was extremely big. Their second single ‘Chaib’ was dedicated to a special friend who sadly past away after being involved in a diving accident at the island of Curaçao. Artento Divini: “He lives on in our hearts, also through this record”.

At some point Divini and Warning both decided to pick up their solo careers again and seperated ways. Soon Artento’s first solorelease had reached the cd-wallets of many renowned DJs. ‘Pulse’ was released on 2Play Records and even Eddie Halliwell played this track on his BBC 1 radioshow. But the biggest solo-hit till now was yet to come. ‘Reflex’ has really established Artento Divini’s name within the scene; Sander van Doorn’s DOORN Records picked up this future classic release and made it get stuck at the number two spot of the Beatport-charts for several weeks. Even Australia and New-Zealand will be Reflexed, Central Station has signed this belter exclusively for named territory.

Dutch superstar DJ Jochen Miller and Artento Divini teamed up in the studio for the Emporium anthem 2008, which was signed by Dedicated Records. ‘One Way’ was created for one of Holland’s biggest festivals (Emporium) and the success of this track made them decide to collaborate on more productions. Their bootlegs of a.o. ‘David Guetta – Love Is Gone’ and ‘One Republic – Apologize’ were very well received on the dancefloor and of course brand new material was due soon. The follow up of ‘One Way’ was released on the 19th of January and has been played by the big guys over and over again the last couple of months. Their ‘Artento Divini vs Jochen Miller’ project will slightly differ from the Divini & Miller sound; ‘No Backup’ is not as trancy as their other tracks, but once Reset releases this quality production, you will witness the damage it will do throughout the scene. Both ‘Many Years’ and ‘No Backup’ will be out in October/ November of 2008.

Artento’s remixes have also become very popular, his rebuild of ‘Jochen Miller – Lost Connection” was played by Marco V who started off his set with this one at Sensation White 2008. The Divini remix ‘Fausto – Lupara’ and the original mix have been released by Marco V’s In Charge label and the near future will show that Divini has got some more remixtricks up his sleeve. Also his bootlegs have become enormously popular, Depeche Mode’s ‘Personal Jesus’ and ‘Hide U’ by Kosheen were given the Artento treatment and both go down a storm on the dancefloor.

High Contrast has also picked up the skills of Divini and decided to sign him for a range of new releases. The first one will be called ‘Deep Down’, a track you will definitely hear in Artento Divini’s set during ID&T’s leading trance event Trance Energy. Divini will be playing at the High Contrast stage next to a.o. Rank 1 and Judge Jules.

The sound of Artento Divini can be described as a mixture of minimal rhythms, trancy influences and rough driving sounds. Divini: “My creative brain seems unstoppable, it just goes on and on and on. Like someone once said: ‘It’s like a reflex, I just can’t stop it’. So maybe I’ve come down with the same desease as that guy, who knows…”
